Wanted

Here is a listing of the latest stolen items.

If you would like to list your stolen goods here, please send me an e-mail with all the details.

A few years ago  my shop was broken into and I had every saddle in my shop stolen. I was fortunate, 3 months later they were caught and I had all my saddles returned. But there are people out there who are not so fortunate. They had property stolen and haven't seen it since. If you are one of these, please send me a photo or description by e-mail or snail mail of any property having to do with saddles, tack, horses, cattle, etc... that have been stolen. And I will place them here for all to see. Be sure to include all contact information and any reward if any. ( I'm not responsible  for what is reported )

Barrel saddle was stolen between 11pm (4-13-06) and 7am on 4-14. In Richmond TX.
It is a Carl Ammerman barrel saddle, custom made. Black suede seat that has faded to dark gray. brown leather. black conchos with my silver initials of HS. The conchos are a little rusted. The saddle is fairly plain with a design of holly leaves (SOMETHING I SPECIALLY DESIGNED! ) around the border. It has a back girth with hoof pick holder, which also has the same designs on it. The saddle had a mohair cross on it with a Texas concho in the middle.
There is also a breast collar that was attached to it. I had won that at the Fort Bend County Youth Rodeo. it says on it FBCYRA on the left and right side. it has 2004 on it in the middle.
If anybody has heard or seen it anywhere please call our home phone at 281-344-0901 (my cell - 713-314-7873) or the sheriff at 281-341-4665

Stolen Saddles - Please be on the Lookout!!
2 saddles stolen from our home in Keller, TX end of August, 2002. My roping saddle, 15" roughout, Reidhead saddle (AZ made, oval stamp behind pommel is very worn). Has a brand under skirt on the left back of saddle (GZ in a Christmas tree). If cinch and breast collar are still on it - Breast collar is very old, has a blue nylon piece where the tie down ran through. Cinch was white felt with brown nylon. Second one was my daughters 15" Blue Ridge Saddle (pleasure) about a 1.5 old. Dark brown oil. Has some writing scratched into the cantle and the jockeys by daughter (could have been buffed out). Horn is peeling on the back bottom side (she played with it
while riding). And there was a defect on left jockey (dark mottling of the leather in center). If still on it Breast collar was bought separate from the saddle but was pretty much same color, and only about an inch wide. Cinch was cheap fuzzy one with brown nylon (they stripped of my barrel saddle). Also took daughters brand new leather headstall with barbwire tooling, had a snaffle with copper mouthpiece that was chewed to death. If you have any information please call me at 817-337-9637 or 817-337-9837, or e-mail bshawhee@mindspring.com you can also contact the Tarrant County Sheriff's Department at 817-884-3000.

The police are building a federal case against someone who has been doing this for a living.  He has hit Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, and Missouri.  Those are just the states that we know for sure.  He has been doing this for over 7 years but been much more active the past 2 years.  He was from Kansas and would attend sales and usually steal at night.  He would park down the road and walk into the barn or horse trailer.  He had an eye for what things were worth but wouldn't leave empty handed.  He always staked the places out real well.  He would then take the items to a different state and sell them.  Anything you can tell me that you know might help.  Time of the day, tracks, etc.  This guys name is Damon Garren.  If that rings a bell let me know.  He would sometimes get a job working for people riding colts.  He frequents a lot of sale barns all over.  If you know of any other equipment stolen in your area or any of those states...please pass it on to me.  We are trying to fill in the gaps so he can get the maximum time.  Thank you,

This is a long shot , I know. Stolen from me, in Louisville, KY, a cutback saddle made for me by Kentucky Saddlery , Louisville, KY(
Argentine made). It has a 20" seat and a brass plate on the cantle with my name "Donna Singleton". The brass plate has probably been taken off.
The man who I believe had taken it last name is Brekken, he is a small man with blond hair , blue eyes and is a homosexual. I think he is about
sixtyish now . He rides/trains Arabians. When he left Louisville in around 1982 he was headed to Texas. When he left my saddle went with
him. The saddle nowadays isn't worth much, but my mother had given it to me for Christmas. She passed away June 1, 2000 from complications caused by
cancer. I would like to have it for sentimental reasons. If anyone has any information they can contact me by e-mail

I was reading your site concerning stolen tack.  I gave up years ago (before computers) of ever finding my saddle.  It was stolen about 25 years ago.  I realize it may be in very poor condition but it has tremendous value to me.   The saddle was stolen in Kansas.  It is a barrel racing saddle, olive green seat and a square skirt.  My name "Julie" was on the seat with my full name and address "Julie Deselms, Lamar Nebraska" on the cantle. I have a belt that is the same color with tooling that matched the saddle and the letter design.
I could email you of photo of it, if it would help.  It was made by a very fine saddle maker in Ogallala, Nebraska.  I know this is a long shot but I can't help but thinking somewhere out there someone has it and most likely bought it from the thief and is wandering "who is Julie Deselms"

Report  1/07/2000  E-mail Sharon with any news.

Last night my family was robbed.  Someone broke into out barn and stole 7 saddles, a few bridles and some misc..  It is hard enough for my husband and I to handle this, any rancher knows how important a saddle is to your life... but our children are devastated.

The saddles are as follows...

1.  Croft custom made saddle with our brand, a flying H, on the cantle.  Deep swells, and a deep seat.  A homemade fenceplyer holder was attached to the left cantle, and if removed should leave marks there.  Croft, from Deadwood, SD, keeps track of every saddle he makes, so it should be easily identifiable.

2.  Salsbury saddle, semi roping, low swells, basket stamped with a roughout padded seat and also fenceplyers attached to the cantle.

3.  Almost brand new Big Country youth saddle (our 9 year old daughters birthday present) basket stamped and roughout seat with a red fleece cinch attached.

4.  Used small child's saddle, no name, basket stamped with homemade odd ball tapederos on the stirrups, our youngest pride and joy!

5.  A Stiver made saddle-there aren't many of these, so it should be easily identifiable, custom made.

6.  An older, Chester Hape made saddle, out of Sheridan, WY.  This is a one of a kind saddle, lighter colored, smooth, leather with a yellowish seat to it.  There also aren't many of these, so it might stick out a little to people.

7.  We had one rough out no-name hand made saddle, with an association tree.

Odds are, we'll never see these again....but I am hoping that through the help of friends and good people like you the word can be spread, and maybe just maybe we'll come up with something.

Please, please let us know if you see any of these, and forward this listing to anyone you can think of who might come into contact through sale, trade, or auction with the people who have stolen these from us.

Thank you,

Sharon Romey
